2024 Don't Sit on Colon Cancer 5K and Survivor Walk

Register for 2024 Don't Sit on Colon Cancer 5K and Survivor Walk

The Sentara Cancer Network wants to help you learn about colorectal cancer, how you can treat it and how you can encourage your loved ones to be screened for it. That is why they are proud to present the Don't Sit on Colon Cancer 5K/Survivor Walk on April 14, 2024 (DATE CHANGE). This event is a great opportunity to raise awareness about colon cancer prevention, risk factors, and treatments as well as honor the heroic survivors and their families/supporters.

Proceeds from this event are used to educate the community about colon cancer and help marginalized community members receive life-saving screenings.

Early detection is the key to early treatment.

Early treatment is the key to the best chances of survival.

The Sentara Cancer Network Team:
  • Takes a team approach, where a handful of experts recommend treatments.
  • Considers all of the options available and closely follows the latest care guidelines.
  • Strives to be on the cutting edge of treatments, such as becaming the first in the area to introduce transanal endoscopic microsurgery. (This minimally invasive technique removes certain tumors from the anus without cutting into the abdomen.)

Colorectal cancer survival rates at Sentara are above the national average, thanks in part to all of these efforts.
